Drawing Energy 1: Abu Dhabi | Third Year Design Studio, University of Edinburgh | 2010
Using the site and programme for Clouds, Vortices & Plumes, this studio operated as a laboratory for critical thinking about the spatial registrations of energetic exchanges. After enacting and recording a series of "energy experiments" that recorded environmental processes, students developed design proposals at two divergent scales: a renewable energy active landscape and a passive building that buffered climatic extremes. Drawing as an energetic act and as a accumulative registrar guided the exploration. Credits: Niall Patterson: 1-3 | Carin Nakanishi: 4-5 | Sayan Skandarajah:6-8 | Xu Zheng: 9-11
