Drawing Energy 2: Kerrera, Scotland | Third Year Design Studio, University of Edinburgh | 2011
Students designed active landscapes of cultivation and passive buildings that register environmental exchange in a small island in the Scottish Hebrides. Energy was framed according to a basic thermodynamic reading of energetic exchange as yielding either work or heat. Students benefitted from the proximity of Kerrera by camping on site, keeping weather logs and conducting field measurements tied to their designed modes of cultivation.
