Prince Edward County Saltboxes

Phased site plan and schematic building design
Related Project: House on Limekiln Line

The Prince Edward County Saltboxes was a commissioned project for schematic design of a phased site strategy and building designs for a drive shed, primary dwelling, future secondary dwelling, and small  screened deck.Buildings, organised around a courtyard with perimeter decking and central wildflower garden, draw from local agricultural building forms and materials. The saltbox roof pop-outs focus views on the undulating landscape beyond.

0 km footprints: A related research project explored the possibility of constructing the house from regenerative material systems, including hempcrete built from hemp cultivated on an adjacent field, rammed earth constructed from earth excavated from the central wildflower courtyard, and clt (cross-laminated timber) from trees harvested in forest adjacent to the site.
